Lottie's kingdom

Clothing, Paintings

Hi, my name is Lottie and I am an artist and mental health nurse based in Bristol, UK. I love reading, baking, foraging and witchcraft. I am passionate about animal welfare and veganism.

I am interested in creating ethereal experiences with paint. I have created art since I can remember but picked up oil painting in lockdown and never looked back. At this time I focussed on sharing my work on Instagram (@Lotties_kingdom). After dropping out of art school my focus turned to making conceptual art that reflected my personality rather than work I believed would be taken ‘seriously’. I find comfort in layering thick paint in mesmerising colours. Oil paints challenge my natural perfectionism, forcing me to explore looser styles. The most important aspect of my artwork is the process, I find the cathartic act of creating with physical mediums most rewarding.

My artistic focus is generally centred around female empowerment. I am always inserting mythological and historical symbolism into my work. I take inspiration from particular art styles and movements including naïve and folk art, Impressionism, psychedelia and conceptual art.
My biggest inspirations at the moment are female surrealists such as Leonora Carrington and Dorothea Tanning.

I have just picked up needle-felting this year and I feel it has a similar quality to painting. I am excited to keep making unique and affordable wearable art pieces!
